
Dunmail plays the Small Pipes while being filmed. There are two points of history in this photo:
1. This is the type of pipes which would have been played in the Borders, not the
Highland War Pipes played by Scottish pipe bands the world over.
2. Note the non-authentic Reiver washing line in the background. Strange as it may
seem, a simple idea like hanging wet washing over a rope to let it dry had not been
Thought of in the 16th Century. Washing was laid on the ground or on bushes to dry.
